Does anyone know where I can find an estimate for the number of people who fought as part of a Republican militia during the Spanish Civil War, (1936-1939)? (I'm only after the numbers in the militias, NOT the International Brigades, or the Republican Army.)
I need to find a reputable historical source that I can quote in a thesis, not just an answer from Wikipedia or something like that. A historical monograph would be perfect. Haven't been able to find anything!
