What are some other techniques to prove a finding besides statistics?

In other words, let's say that I wanted to research how many ppl are obese; how would i go about citing this info without using stats. Any sort of help will be appreciated. Thank you.

What are some other techniques to prove a finding besides statistics?
The only way to do this is to find out how many people in the population are obese. The reason we have statistics is to get an idea about what is happening in a population without know all the details of the population. So if you are looking at just a high school, for example, then you could just find out how many students from that school are obese. but you could not use that information to make any conclusion out side of that one school.
