What is the minimum WPM and accuracy statistics needed to get into a standard office/secretary?

Just wondering what standard i am at. I'm 16 at the moment, still wondering what i want to do for part time work now...

Currently i type 60 WPM and 96% Accuracy.

What is the minimum WPM and accuracy statistics needed to get into a standard office/secretary?
The Standard minimum typing speed is 40. words per minute and an accuracy of 80%.

You are overqualified ??
Reply:have noticed that minimum requirements are around 35 - 50 wpm with 100% but would recommend trying for 60wpm with 100% accuracy. I think that the 100% accuracy would be more important than the speed as it would save time on retyping/checking (but these days there are spellcheckers anyway)

back in 'the good old days' i used to be able to type 105wpm with 100% but that was on a manual typewriter and many moons ago - lost a bit of speed over the years.

Good luck and keep practising..
Reply:These days there is not a standard WPM.

I would say most call for at least 45 WPM or more. If in transcription, it would call for 75 WPM or more.

Accuracy is the most important thing. Although, you do not need to volunteer with employers that you are 96%.

When you decide what you want to do and it involves typing, just tell them your WPM and leave the rest out.

If you go through an employment agency they will give you a employment test, which will include typing.
Reply:Depends on the employer and what they are looking for in their employee. Most prefer accuracy opposed to wpm. . . and above that, "attiude" is the deal breaker.

60 wpm w/accuracy is sufficient.

By 'attitude', I am referring to a positive attitude, excellent work ethics (arriving on time, not spending the majority of the day making personal phone calls, playing games on the computer, socializing with coworkers, and just doing what your being paid to do).
Reply:Accuracy is the biggest part. Yes you should be able to type more than 40 wpm. I’ve done data entry and it is always stressed on accuracy. Even if your slower than someone else the better you are on accuracy your speed will gradually increase. Go for 100%. Most time is taken in reviewing work that wasnt dont right the first time.
Reply:I would say about 45 wpm but now a days fewer people can type very fast anymore and the standards are lower. But most people are hired due to personality not typing speed?
