Does anyone know of statistics showing what the car accident rates are for drivers by age?

You always hear about old people getting the pedals mixed up and killing people. Is there really a problem? Are old people really more likely to get into accidents? Or do we just hear about it and remember it better when it happens with an old person?

I would like to see an official study of accident rates by age. I *know* some insurance company has done the research. Is it public? Is something official like that available on the internet?

Does anyone know of statistics showing what the car accident rates are for drivers by age?
check out the Center for Disease Control and Prevention - www.cdc.gov - the section on non-disease mortality and morbidity - should help you in your search
