Does anyone have statistics on what happens to most lost pets?

for example, 59% recovered, 6% die on roads, etc. I'm curious b/c I've recently lost a cat and trying to find info on what happens to most lost pets, i've seen soooo many lost pet ads through my search and it makes me sad.

Generally, people don't take down the signs they put up, so even if you see hundreds of signs regarding lost pets, it doesn't mean that all of them are still lost. I imagine that if you live in a city or a place with many busy streets or highways, your pet has a higher chance of getting run over, but if you live in a suburb, it is likely enough that someone has already found your pet. Do post signs, and call the local pounds if your pet didn't have tags on them. Good luck.
Reply:Was your cat microchipped? Have you put signs up all over? Call all vets in the area to leave your info and to find out if anyone has reported finding any cats and their descriptions. Also call/and visit all animal shelters in your area.
