Where can I find out the statistics for the physical training the Navy does in boot camp?

A friend of mine is going in and wants to be prepared for it. For example how many sit-ups do they do? How many push-ups do they do? How long of distance and in how much time do they run.

Well, you didn't specify how old your friend is, but they base the physical fitness tests on an age range, and also a weight test.

I would say if your friend is in his/her 20's, he or she would probably want to be doing at least 50-75 sit-ups a day, 50 or more push-ups and be able to run 1.5 miles in about 10-15 minutes or so. Like I said, the standard varies by age, so it's really hard to pinpoint, but that much will get him started. Also, he should be prepared to jump off a (short) diving board, tread water for 5 minutes and then swim the remaining length of the pool (a standard distance of 25 or 50? feet).

Also, keep in mind that they will start everyone off slowly, they won't expect people to be coming in able to do all of this right away, they sort of build you up over time.

Good luck! It's easy!

Reply:When I went through Navy boot camp the physical training was not all that intense. If you are in reasonable shape you will be fine. The most difficult part was the lack of sleep. If you were lucky you got four hours a night.
